5 Investments You Need to Become Successful

It’s not selfish to love yourself, take care of yourself and to make your happiness a priority, or to make investments in yourself. We have been trying to make a more conscious effort to live a well-rounded and balanced life. We are trying to invest in ourselves from the ground up. According to life coach¬†Stacia Pierce,¬†“A personal investment in your skills, your image, or even the tools you need to succeed increases your value overall.”

We’re here to put you on the right track with the 5 most significant investments you need to make for success:

Treat Your Body Right – Investments in Yourself

You have heard the mantra a million times: you only have one body, take care of it! It is cliche but true. If you spend time investing in yourself, your investment will pay off with time. Workout every day, go for a hike, meditate, enjoy a spa day, splurge on that themed SoulCycle class, or pay a little extra for that free-range chicken at Whole Foods! Everything you do adds up to a more prosperous and productive you.

Dress to Impress

I see it all the time since I have moved to Silicon Valley. People in sweatshirts and jeans, dressed down in flip flops, sloppy AF, etc. If you invest a little bit more time in really putting yourself together, you will be surprised at the impact. There is nothing better than always looking sharp, and I swear people respect you a bit more. I have been trying recently to buy only super-stylish investment pieces that are a little pricier but will last me in the long run.

Every time I have been conflicted or want to take my life to the next level, I have found my answers in the pages of a book. I know so many people who don’t set aside time to read because they are “too busy.” I say find the time. You can subscribe to an audiobook service like Audible for the car or during your workout. Or maybe instead of catching up on that Real Housewives episode, pick up a new novel or self-help book instead, and see how your life starts to change.

Make time for your relationships

Do you routinely work through lunch instead of connecting with your colleagues? Have you not called your aunt back in a few weeks because you’ve been working late? Stop! Make it a priority to spend little free moments throughout the day shooting friends and family members a text to let them know I am thinking about them. Get to know your co-workers whenever you need a break.

Invest

We saved the best for last here. I get that people say you need to save, and having an emergency stash of cash is essential. But did you know that money should only be between 1-5% of your total portfolio based on your age? You don’t need to hoard cash in a savings account to afford to invest anymore. Stockpile and other apps let you buy the stock now for as little as $5. We know investing can be scary, but get that big chunk of change out of your savings and into the market and watch that money grow baby.
